  1. You know… I don’t think he thought you were a guy… it’s kind of hard to miss the boobs :wink wink: lol I think he just got pissed at flustered and was like “what do I call her… I think she’s a lesbian.. what’s the word for that? Oh yeah… I’m retarded and don’t know a lot of words but I think the faggot relates to her so um… FAGGOT!”
    Know what I mean…

I think the most hurtful words I’ve ever been called were along the lines of “stupid white bitch”, “wanna be white bitch”. I had someone on FB say “suck my dick you fake ass puerto rican.”

They’re words I’ve heard a million times and still sting every time… as much as I’d like to say that they don’t.

    • I agree:
      1) You do not look like a guy; you are very obviously a girl.
      2) Some people may be running around thinking…all gay slurs are pretty much the same to them, so they throw what comes first.
I’ve got to mention on the racial slurs that I’ve had a unique experience myself being full Puerto Rican who happens to be white (or whatever you wan to call me when my ancestry is from PR, but everyone says, “You don’t look PR!!”) Yeah, whatever! I don’t mind that part, but I do mind getting caught in the cross-fire. Once I moved to Long Island, everyone assumed I was white (non-Hispanic) and when we’d drive through Hispanic neighborhoods, they’d yell about dirty spics, which really pissed me off. Worse still, when I’d visit my family in the city, Hispanic girls on the street and on the subway would call me “esa puta blanca” and various other slurs IN MY LANGUAGE!! It was…strange and uncomfortable, but I learned to attribute it to people’s ignorance b/c we are much more alike than we are different.
…which brings us back to slurs about sexual orientation…same thing, people are just being ignorant and throwing hurt at you.
As for guys being pigs, especially when a girl doesn’t give them attention…I learned to live with that too, but now my 14 year old daughter is gorgeous and looks 18 and I had that go on this weekend at the beach and it was hard for me not to trip out of my face and get myself arrested. Then again, she’ll have to learn as well.
Consider it this way if you will: It is OUR POWER over someone else that incites them to throw slurs. And, I don’t know about you, but I’m an Aries, a Woman, a Boricua, a Writer, an American….and a miliion other things those bitches can’t touch…AND I LOVE POWER, so BRING IT!

      • “and I LOVE POWER, so BRING IT!”

ahhh i’m going to politely steal that and use it in a screenplay as an ending line in an all female action sequence….

oh and right on to everything you said…
funny i’ve gotten a leeetle darker as i’ve gotten older but when i was younger i was super light skinned and spanish chicks didnt know what to make of me and white ppl knew i wasn’t one of theirs…so i feel you.

  2. And just like that Margaret Cho clip I posted, the racist words hurt me most because.. I can’t do anything about my skin color or my eyes… this is it. Ain’t nothing changing and I had shit to do with the way I look. And you have shit to do with your sexuality. that’s just what the great invisible unicorn in the sky made us like.

    • “the great invisible unicorn in the sky”

i think that’s one of the best ways of describing “God” ever!

and yeah maybe he didnt mistake me for a guy, but even in his alleged craziness, he sure picked a doozy of a word to sling.

i feel like now i’m going to be hearing this word everywhere.

am i going to turn into one of those people that asks/tells other ppl not to use hate words??

      maybe…especially if they’re kids or something…

  3. Been there. I choose to embrace the word, as the faggot that I am. But I see your point. I would probably feel the same way if I were called a dyke. But just know that by embracing the words, we take away the meaning from them for the use. I see it similar to the case of the “n-word” for blacks. We (latinos) have our own words as well. But as well, I would rather have people call me a faggot than to a queer kid.

    Peace out!
