Writing Assignment 2: Prayer to a Sin Vergüenza Ancestor
        Mon Oct 13th, 4pm

Recipe as Prayer. I read Ancestral Intelligence and never for a second felt like I was reading a recipe. The whole piece feels like a prayer. But now I realize that it’s both. Recipe and prayer. Our ancestors want to be red and honored. What better way to do that by writing prayer as recipe.

Use their format to guide your way. Let your first two paragraphs be about your ancestor. Let the recipe be from them to you. Build mood. Be specific with plants, the power of the ingredients and things that your Sin Vergüenza would be amused by.

Writing Assignment 2: Prayer to a Sin Vergüenza Ancestor
Take the ancestor prayer you wrote in class and revisit it. Weave an entire recipe or parts of a recipe. Fill it with the following:
        A memory of rebellion
        Plants, flowers, earth
        Ritual Instructions (steps, blessings, offerings)
Follow the vibe of Karen M. Rose’s “Ancestral Intelligence, Plant Medicine & Our Intuition” (Sacred Vibes Apothecary’s Herbal Almanac 2023–2024). Notice the places where her recipe feels like prayer.

        Steps to Complete
        First Draft:

        Write your prayer

        Second Draft:

        Write a recipe

        Full draft

        Weave them together
Cut a line from each one
        End with an ask

        Submit
Turn in your completed recipe-prayer from your ancestor to you. It should feel like a blessing and an offering, specific, shameless, and alive.
